The Council of Ministers of the Government of Peace, Republic of Sudan is closely following the positive developments taking place in the Middle East towards the establishment of peace and stability. The Council commends the signing of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza by the concerned parties and further praises the significant role played by the United States of America, as well as the growing efforts of the international and regional communities, in achieving this framework that aims to end the war and alleviate the humanitarian suffering in the Gaza Strip. While welcoming this important step, the Council of Ministers of the Government of Peace emphasizes the importance and necessity of ending wars and the prolonged suffering of the Sudanese people particularly the hardships endured by our nation as a result of the war that began on April 15th, ignited by the terrorist Islamic Movement and its various fronts controlling the leadership of the army. The Government of Peace further affirms its full readiness to engage positively with international initiatives aimed at ending the war in our country, particularly the efforts of the Quartet Initiative through which the United States of America is exerting remarkable and commendable endeavors. We value the significant role played by the administration of President Donald Trump in striving to end conflicts and promote peace in the region and the world, including its major breakthroughs in achieving a peaceful settlement of the conflict in the Congo, its efforts toward resolving the Russian–Ukrainian war, the progress that led to an agreement between India and Pakistan, and finally the culmination of these efforts in the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. All of these achievements strengthen our optimism about establishing a strategic partnership with the United States and its regional and international partners, one founded on ending wars and armed conflicts, combating terrorism in the region, and fostering peace and stability in Sudan and the broader region, thereby contributing to the maintenance of international peace and security. In conclusion, the Government of Peace reaffirms that we are advocates of peace guided by principles that ensure comprehensive and sustainable peace, in accordance with the aspirations and will of the Sudanese people for stability, the end of the protracted cycle of violence that has hindered our nation’s growth and development, and the eradication of the poverty and displacement caused by the policies of the former regime, which failed to recognize diversity and equality of citizenship, and denied all Sudanese equal rights and responsibilities without discrimination.
