Sudan Liberation Movement Leader Abdul Wahid Al-Nur Holds High-Level Meetings in Italy as Part of European Tour

Roma. Alsudanianews

The Chairman of the Sudan Liberation Movement, Abdul Wahid Mohammed Ahmed Al-Nur, continues his European tour, which began in Italy on 2 November 2025, accompanied by a delegation of senior movement officials. During the visit, the delegation held key meetings with the Sant’Egidio organization, the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, and several members of the Italian Parliament.

These important discussions addressed several key issues, including:

 The root causes of the crisis and the nature of the conflict in Sudan.

 The ongoing 15th of April war, its impacts on Sudan, and its regional and international implications.

 The Movement’s stance of strict neutrality regarding the parties involved in the conflict.

The severe humanitarian situation in Sudan, particularly in areas under the Movement’s control, which have provided shelter to millions of internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Darfur and other parts of Sudan.

 The Movement’s humanitarian initiative aimed at addressing the miserable situation in El Fashir , prior to the outbreak of fighting there. This initiative, had it been accepted, could have spared the civilian population from the catastrophic consequences they now face. Unfortunately, it was rejected by certain parties to the conflict without any moral or national justification.

The Movement’s pioneering humanitarian and political roles to end the war, through the establishment of a broad civilian-led national front, inclusive of all parties except the National Congress Party (NCP) and its affiliates, as well as any actors unwilling to participate.

The movement called for the urgent initiation for a comprehensive ceasefire that encompasses all armed forces, not solely the two principal warring parties.  An appeal to both the Italian government and civil society to support the Sudanese people through immediate humanitarian intervention and advocacy to address the aggravating humanitarian crisis. The Movement’s pragmatic proposals and vision received widespread appreciation and recognition from the Italian government and civil society organizations. These stakeholders pledged to make every possible effort to support Sudan across humanitarian domains, contribute to ending the war, and facilitate a just, comprehensive, and sustainable peace.
