Earlier on Wednesday morning, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced that they had successfully downed a Turkish-made Akıncı drone over the Babanousa area in West Kordofan State.
According to the RSF statement, the operation marks another demonstration of the group’s readiness to counter any form of aerial assault or infiltration attempts allegedly conducted by the “terrorist Islamic Movement militia” and its allies. The statement further accused these groups of “continuing to kill civilians and destroy vital infrastructure in an effort to destabilize the Kordofan and Darfur regions.”
The RSF highlighted that this latest incident follows the earlier downing of an Ilyushin aircraft in the same area, underscoring what it described as its “full preparedness to confront aerial threats.”
The statement went on to declare that “the attempts by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), operating under the banner of the so-called Islamic Movement, will ultimately fail,” adding that RSF forces remain “resolute and advancing to dismantle the terrorist army’s fortifications, end the war, and rebuild Sudan on just and equitable foundations for all Sudanese.”
