The Darfur Victims Support Organization strongly condemns the grave crime committed by a
drone operated by the Sudanese army, which targeted a gathering of unarmed civilians in Biam
Jeld, Delang County, South Kordofan/Nuba Mountains. This attack represents a flagrant
disregard for civilian life and a serious violation of international humanitarian law.
According to a credible eyewitness account provided to the organization from within the area,
the attack occurred at approximately 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, 25 December 2025, while
civilians—most of them children—were peacefully celebrating Christmas. There were no
military activities or objectives in the vicinity.
The drone strike resulted in the deaths of twelve (12) civilians and injuries to nineteen (19)
others, some in critical condition, constituting an assault that demonstrates clear criminal intent
and reflects a recurring pattern of drone strikes against protected civilian gatherings, in direct
contravention of the principles of distinction and proportionality under international
humanitarian law.

The organization considers this attack a grave crime that may amount to a war crime, as it
deliberately targeted civilians during a peaceful religious occasion without any legitimate
military justification, within the broader context of repeated aerial assaults on populated civilian
areas.
The Darfur Victims Support Organization holds the Sudanese army fully responsible for this
attack and its catastrophic human toll. The organization emphasizes that impunity for such
crimes encourages their recurrence and undermines any genuine prospects for civilian
protection or peace.
Accordingly, the organization:
• Calls for an independent, transparent international investigation to establish
accountability and prosecute those responsible, including those who issued the orders.
• Demands justice for the victims and their families and the provision of
reparations in accordance with international standards.
• Urges the UN Security Council and the international community to take urgent
and effective measures to protect civilians in Sudan and to put an end to the use of drones
against civilian gatherings.
Continued silence by the international community in the face of these crimes cannot be
interpreted as neutrality; it effectively perpetuates the suffering of innocent civilians,
necessitating decisive action that prioritizes the protection of human life above any political or
military considerations
