The Darfur Victims Support Organization (DVSO) organized a specialized training workshop as part of a project to enhance the capacities of young human rights defenders in monitoring, documentation, and regional and international mechanisms. The event was held at the Human Rights Center in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, with wide participation from lawyers, journalists, civil society representatives, and community leaders.
The workshop focused on introducing international and national legal instruments related to human rights, alongside developing participants’ skills in monitoring, documentation, and drafting human rights reports according to professional standards. These efforts aim to strengthen the efficiency of civil actors in addressing violations.
Held under the slogan “Enhancing Participatory Community Protection,” the workshop aimed to raise the level of legal and rights-based awareness, contributing to improved response mechanisms for violations and support for victims at the local level.
The workshop witnessed a notable attendance of human rights defenders and featured interactive discussions and practical training activities. These sessions allowed participants to exchange experiences and build a deeper understanding of the challenges associated with human rights work in fragile contexts.
