Hope and Haven Refugees Organization, in partnership with Darfur Victims Support Organization and Yes She Is for Peace and Development Organization, organized a Psychosocial Support Workshop at Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement in Uganda on May 11, 2026.
The workshop aimed to support the mental health and emotional wellbeing of refugees and displaced communities affected by conflict and forced displacement. A total of 25 women beneficiaries from diverse age groups and community backgrounds participated in the initiative.
The event provided a safe and inclusive space for dialogue, emotional expression, and mutual support among participants who continue to face the psychological impacts of war, displacement, and instability.
Workshop sessions focused on several key topics, including mental health awareness, psychosocial support, stress and emotional management, positive coping mechanisms, community support, social cohesion, and the importance of safe spaces for emotional expression.
Facilitators used interactive and participatory approaches throughout the workshop, including group discussions, storytelling sessions, emotional expression exercises, active listening activities, and collaborative problem-solving sessions.
Organizers stated that the workshop contributed to raising awareness about psychosocial wellbeing, improving stress management skills, strengthening positive coping strategies, reducing feelings of isolation, and reinforcing social solidarity among refugee women.
Participants expressed appreciation for the initiative and highlighted the urgent need for continued psychosocial support programs within refugee communities to strengthen resilience, dignity, and hope amid ongoing humanitarian challenges.
The organizing groups also extended gratitude to all facilitators, participants, and partner organizations who contributed to the success of the workshop.
