Zalingei, Central Darfur –
Victims Support Organization and the Hope and Refuge Organization for Refugees are continuing their humanitarian efforts to support a children’s kitchen in Golo locality, Central Darfur State, as part of an urgent response to the worsening humanitarian crisis in the region. In cooperation with S&J Organization, the two organizations have established a fully equipped kitchen targeting orphaned and vulnerable children, as well as children who lost their parents following the fall of North Darfur State – El Fasher and the mass displacement that followed. The kitchen aims to serve approximately 300 children aged between 4 and 15 years from the most affected families in Golo and surrounding areas. It provides two meals per day – breakfast and lunch – for a period of 6 months, running until the end of 2026.Organizers said the primary goal of the initiative is to alleviate the suffering of children who have lost income sources and family care, and to ensure they receive at least a minimum level of nutrition amid severe food insecurity and soaring food prices in local markets.Urgent Humanitarian AppealIn a joint statement, both organizations issued an urgent humanitarian appeal to all local, regional, and international organizations, as well as donors, for immediate intervention to provide the necessary material and financial support to sustain the kitchen and expand it to reach more children in need. They emphasized that continued support makes a real difference between hunger and food security for hundreds of children who now rely entirely on these meals amid the extremely difficult conditions facing Darfur.
