The Civil Authority in the liberated areas controlled by the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army (SLM/A) led by Mr. Abdul-Wahid Mohamed Ahmed Al-Nur, has announced the launch of a broad media campaign to highlight the catastrophic humanitarian situation and the famine conditions facing citizens in these liberated territories.

In an official statement, the Civil Authority said the liberated areas in Jebel Marra and Darfur are witnessing an unprecedented humanitarian collapse, with hundreds of thousands of displaced people facing death due to severe shortages of food, medicine, and clean water amid the ongoing war and blockade.

The campaign aims to expose the true scale of suffering to local, regional, and international public opinion, after what it described as systematic neglect by international organizations and UN agencies for over two years.

The Authority issued an urgent appeal to the local, regional, and international communities, as well as United Nations agencies and international NGOs, to intervene urgently and immediately to deliver humanitarian, relief, and medical aid without restrictions and to open safe and sustainable corridors to save the lives of millions of displaced persons.

It stressed its full commitment to facilitating relief operations, ensuring the safety of humanitarian workers, and protecting aid convoys until they reach those in need.

The statement warned that international silence on the famine in the liberated areas amounts to a humanitarian crime, calling on media and human rights activists to join the campaign.

The SLM/AW liberated areas currently host more than one million IDPs who fled fighting in El-Fasher, Nyala, El-Geneina, and Zalingei, living in dire conditions with acute malnutrition among children and women.
