This includes promoting social peace, combating the systematic exploitation of the region’s resources, curbing arms and human smuggling, and resisting harmful foreign interventions and occupation. Such efforts are critical to ensuring the stability and security of the region, which has become a refuge and transit point for millions fleeing the war. Strengthening Relations between Darfur and Eastern SudanBoth parties encourage initiatives that foster the historical ties between the people of Darfur and Eastern Sudan. They recognize the important role played by the large Darfuri community in the East, who have made significant contributions to the region’s development.Opposition to Recruitment for Proxy WarsThe parties will actively oppose the efforts of certain armed groups that have used Eastern Sudan as a base to recruit young people from Darfur to fuel the ongoing conflict. They call for similar opposition across all regions of Sudan, ensuring that no Sudanese people are exploited as pawns in proxy wars or instigators of division.
