The African Union Commission and the United Arab Emirates issued a joint statement underscoring the urgent need for an immediate and unconditional humanitarian truce in Sudan, paving the way for a permanent ceasefire and ensuring unhindered humanitarian access across the country.
Both sides stressed the importance of accountability for violations of international humanitarian law and the establishment of an independent, civilian-led government that reflects the aspirations of the Sudanese people for peace, stability, and democratic governance.
The statement recalled the joint communiqué issued by the African Union Commission and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) on 14 September 2025, which welcomed the QUAD Joint Statement of 12 September 2025. It also referenced the outcomes of the High-Level Humanitarian Conference convened on the margins of the AU Summit in February 2025.
The two sides welcomed regional and international efforts aimed at addressing Sudan’s deepening humanitarian crisis and strongly condemned atrocities committed against civilians by the warring parties. They reaffirmed their support for Sudan’s territorial integrity and unity, emphasizing that a peaceful settlement remains the only viable path to ending the conflict and alleviating the suffering of the Sudanese people.
