The Sudanese people, local communities and the world at large have all followed with deep emotional turmoil the horrific humanitarian disaster that occurred on 31st of August 2025, in Tarsin village which located in Umo area of central Jebbel Marra.
However; the catastrophic landslide, triggered by heavy rainfall, completely destroyed the village, wiping it off the face of the earth and resulting in the death of all one thousand inhabitants – except for a single survivor, accordingly; the scale and magnitude of the disaster are immense and defy description which necessitate putting at work and coordinating efforts of local, regional and international actors, including the deployment of specialized rescue teams to recover bodies from beneath the rocky debris.The international community must come together to support the affected communities and provide the necessary assistance to help them recover from this devastating disaster .
