EU Institutions Welcome Vision of Sudan Liberation Movement during Third Diplomatic Engagement in Brussels

The Chairman of the Sudan Liberation Movement, comrade Abdul Wahid Mohammed Ahmed Al –Nour, accompanied by his distinguished delegation, conducted the third engagement of their high- level European mission in the Belgian capital of Brussels on 13 November 2025. Upon their arrival, they promptly commenced a series of extended consultations and deliberations with multiple departments across the institutions of the European Union. The delegation of the movement provided EU officials with a comprehensive briefing on the historical root causes of the crisis, the ongoing 15th of April 2023 war and its far-reaching political and humanitarian implications, thus they outlined a pragmatic mechanisms for stopping it, as well as the movement’s principled position regarding the aforementioned issues. They also highlighted the acute gravity of the humanitarian catastrophe confronting the Sudanese people at large, and particularly the vulnerable civilian populations displaced to areas under the movement’s control. In this context, they underscored the urgent imperative for both the European Union and the broader international community to uphold their moral and humanitarian obligations toward the victims of conflict in Sudan. Accordingly, the team called for a substantial augmentation of the much- needed humanitarian assistance and relief, alongside the exertion of all possible diplomatic and political pressure on the parties to the conflict to endorse a comprehensive ceasefire encompassing all armed movements. The delegation further urged the European Union and the International Community to act earnestly in facilitating the handing over and prosecution of all the individuals indicted by the International Criminal Court (ICC), promptly hold accountable those responsible for heinous violations and atrocities in the ongoing war, and to reinforce the principle that impunity must not prevail. The Movement’s delegation reiterated its unequivocal endorsement and wholehearted support for the initiative put forth by the International Quartet to resolve the Sudanese crisis, as stated in its communiqué. They also provided a detailed overview to proactive initiatives and keen efforts undertaken by the movement since 2018 to achieve the objectives of the December glorious People’s Revolution and to halt and terminate war in Sudan. Following these discussions, the European Union welcomed the movement’s vision, describing it as responsible, substantive and constructive, affirming their readiness to engage cooperatively with the movement on the issues deliberated at the highest level.
