Sudan. Alsudanianews

The Sudanese Social Democratic Party has released a report documenting severe human rights violations in Al-Jazirah State, Sudan, following the withdrawal of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the subsequent takeover by the Sudanese Army and Islamist militias. The report highlights widespread abuses, including arbitrary arrests, torture, extrajudicial killings, and racial targeting, disproportionately affecting marginalized communities.

Key findings include:

1. Racial Targeting and Mass Arrests: Widespread arbitrary arrests of marginalized groups, particularly from South Sudan, Darfur, Kordofan, and Blue Nile Sudan, based on fabricated accusations of collaborating with the RSF.
2. Detainee Conditions: Over 2,000 detainees in Wad Madani prison alone, with harsh sentences, including death penalties, handed down without evidence or witnesses.
3. Deteriorating Health and Humanitarian Conditions: Prisons suffer from lack of basic services, leading to malnutrition, medical neglect, and daily deaths.
4. Politically Motivated Death Sentences: Two citizens sentenced to death for alleged collaboration with the RSF, highlighting the need for urgent international action.

The Sudanese Social Democratic Party urges international and regional organizations, including the United Nations Human Rights Council, the International Criminal Court, and Amnesty International, to investigate these violations, demand the immediate release of detainees, and hold those responsible accountable.

On May 13, 2025, the Anti-Terrorism and State Security Crimes Court in Wad Madani, presided over by Judge Dr. Youssef Adam Othman, issued death sentences by hanging to two citizens accused of collaborating with the RSF, in the following cases:

Criminal Case No. 3252/2025: A death sentence was issued against the citizen (M.A.D), 32 years old, allegedly for being present at an RSF checkpoint in Kombo Al-Aamma – Abu Quta area.

Criminal Case No. 3253/2025: A death sentence was issued against the citizen (K.A), 39 years old, for allegedly serving as head of the Wad Rawah police section and collaborating with the RSF.

The prosecution was represented by Deputy Attorney General Moulana Al-Rasheed Jaafar, while the defense was handled by legal aid lawyers. However, these efforts were in vain, as the rulings appeared to have been predetermined.

Urgent Appeal

We call upon international and regional organizations working in the field of human rights, foremost among them:

The United Nations Human Rights Council

The Independent International Fact-Finding Mission for the Sudan

The International Criminal Court

Amnesty International

Human Rights Watch

The African Union

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD)

To urgently investigate these violations, which amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity, to demand the immediate release of detainees, hold those responsible accountable, and take urgent international measures to protect civilians in Al-Jazirah State and throughout Sudan.
