The conflict in Sudan is one of the most deadly and violent in the world for civilians and humanitarian workers alike . Today on WorldHumanitarianDay, the Netherlands calls on everyone to ActforHumanity and stand with those affected by the crisis and honor the aid workers .
Humanitarian needs in Sudan are critical. Sadly, the humanitarian response has suffered from continued attacks, harassment, abductions, and obstructions of aid workers – with 36 aid workers having been killed in 2025 alone. We, together with United Nations OCHA Sudan, condemn the deliberate targeting of aid workers and call upon all parties in Sudan to:
• Protect civilians and humanitarian aid workers;
• Respect and uphold international humanitarian law;
• Facilitate free and safe movement for humanitarian aid workers to deliver aid quickly and efficiently.
