Dr. Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to U.S. President Donald Trump on African and Middle Eastern Affairs, announced that practical arrangements for the Sudan peace process will commence next week, following what he described as the final approval by both warring parties’ delegations in Washington of the Quartet’s resolutions and the proposed roadmap.
Boulos expressed deep appreciation for the Revolutionary Forces Alliance (Sumoud), stating that their efforts demonstrate a clear commitment to the safety, security, and stability of the Sudanese people during this critical phase. He noted that the alliance provided detailed insights into the complexities of Sudan’s crisis, describing their engagement as a “national model” in advancing peace efforts.
According to Boulos, the approval by both delegations paves the way for launching a comprehensive political process that includes military and security sector reforms. He stated that next week will witness the beginning of ceasefire procedures and the opening of humanitarian corridors to facilitate the delivery of aid to affected populations, followed by immediate steps toward broader military and security restructuring.
He further emphasized that the security arrangements accompanying the peace process will be overseen by the United States and its international partners to prevent violations and reinforce stability across Sudan.
Boulos added that the Sumoud alliance is expected to play a significant role in the upcoming transitional phase, highlighting its contribution to supporting a peaceful track and strengthening national unity.
The announcement comes amid intensified international efforts to push Sudan toward a comprehensive political settlement, raising hopes that the forthcoming measures could mark a turning point toward ending the conflict and restoring stability in the country.
