Members of the Presidential Council take the Oath of Office

Members of the Presidential Council were sworn in on Saturday before President of the Presidential Council Lieutenant General Mohamed Hamdan Dag*alo and Chief Justice Ramadan Ibrahim Shamaila in the capital, Nyala, South Darfur. The Presidential Council comprises 15 members, including regional governors, reflecting the Sudan Constituent Alliance’s vision of a decentralized system. The members assume their duties in accordance with the Transitional Constitution of the Republic of Sudan for 2025, which outlines the distribution of competencies and powers among various levels of government. The constitution also defines eight regions to administer the country, as part of broader efforts to restructure governance, ensure equitable sharing of power and resources, and enhance the political stability in the country. The members of the Presidential Council who took the oath are: 1. Elhadi Idris Yahya – Governor of Darfur Region – Member 2. Altahir Abubakr Hagar – Member 3. Mohamed Yousif Ahmed – Member 4. Hamid Hamdeen Al-Nuwairi – Member 5. Abdalla Ibrahim Abbas – Member 6. Kholdi Fathi Salim Jumaa – Member 7. Jagood Mukwar Marada – Governor of South Kordofan/Nuba Mountains Region – Member 8. Joseph Tuka Ali – Governor of the newly established Fung Region – Member 9. Saleh Issa Abdullah – Governor of the Central Region – Member 10. Mabrouk Mubarak Salim – Governor of the Eastern Region – Member 11. Abulgasim Al-Rasheed Ahmed Al-Hassan – Governor of the Northern Region – Member 12.
