The Dutch government expresses concern over the Port Sudan government’s increase in NGO registration fees.

Sudan: Sudanianews

The Dutch government expressed concern over the Port Sudan government’s new high registration fees for NGOs, which have risen to $300, hindering the provision of support to those in need.

The Dutch embassy said on its Facebook page:

Last month, we were in Port Sudan. We attended a powerful meeting with UNFPA and Sudanese women-led organizations.
Sudanese women called for urgent international attention to the growing risks of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) especially affecting displaced women and those living in conflict-affected areas.
Key concerns included:
Barriers to reporting SGBV and accessing justice
Inability to register children born from rape
High SGBV risks along migration routes
New registration fees (USD 300) for national NGOs at federal level
Their call: stronger coordination, timely & flexible funding, focus on prevention—not just response—and a seat at the table in advocacy efforts.
It was useful to hear from Sudanese women. As the Netherlands we stand by your side.
