UAE and Cyprus Reaffirm Strategic Partnership and Joint Commitment to Regional Stability and Humanitarian Cooperation

The United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Cyprus reaffirmed the strength of their comprehensive strategic partnership and their shared commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation and advancing regional stability, development, and humanitarian diplomacy. This came during meetings held in Nicosia between Her Excellency Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, UAE Minister of State, His Excellency Dr. Constantinos Kombos, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, and Her Excellency Marilena Raouna, Deputy Minister for European Affairs.

During the visit, Minister Nusseibeh also met with President Nikos Christodoulides to discuss matters of mutual interest and conveyed the warm greetings of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates.

Both sides reviewed areas of cooperation ahead of Cyprus’s upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2026, expressing readiness to expand consultations on regional priorities that support dialogue, coexistence, and humanitarian engagement. The two sides reiterated their commitment to the UAE-Cyprus Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, signed in February 2022, and agreed to launch the next phase of implementation, with priority placed on cooperation in clean energy, digital transformation, and maritime connectivity.

During their visit to the Port of Limassol, the two sides recognized the Amalthea Cyprus Maritime Corridor as a vital humanitarian lifeline for civilians in Gaza and affirmed the importance of maintaining and expanding its operations in coordination with international partners.

On Sudan, the Ministers expressed deep concern over attacks on civilians in El Fasher and the escalation of violence in other areas. They called on the Rapid Support Forces to ensure the protection of civilians and humanitarian workers, noting that the responsibility to end the conflict lies with both the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF. They emphasized the need for an immediate de-escalation, unhindered humanitarian access, and accountability for violations, while reaffirming their support for Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

The two sides also discussed the ongoing war in Ukraine, reaffirming their unwavering support for a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace based on respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the principles of the UN Charter. Both sides acknowledged their respective humanitarian efforts and expressed readiness to continue supporting Ukraine’s recovery.

The UAE and Cyprus concluded by reaffirming that their partnership remains a model of constructive, forward-looking diplomacy grounded in shared values of stability, development, and humanitarian responsibility.
