situation which is undergoing in the city of Al Fashir and its surrounding areas and that, the defenseless civilians are suffering due to the war and its atrocities.
However; without misconstruing to the initiative as discrimination between other Sudanese cities and regions that are also witnessing conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSFs), and considering the fact that, Al Fashir city is located adjacent to the areas controlled by the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army, which received tens of thousands of families who fled the inferno of war from Darfur regions and the rest of Sudan’s regions, and gave them security, and reassurance.
Nevertheless; their food and medical needs are beyond the capacity of the movement to handle as waves of displaced civilians continue to flow towards the liberated territories on a daily basis.
Consequently; stemming from the national, humanitarian and moral responsibility and in my capacity as the chairman of the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army we represent an initiative to address the humanitarian situation in the city of Al Fashir and its surroundings, and to protect the remnants of civilians and the infrastructure, which requires exiting of all the fighting forces and their allies from the city of Al Fashir and its surroundings, which is a city that, has no military value to any of the parties, and that the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army forces, as a neutral party, assume the responsibility of civilians protection and provide security and reassurance to them, and to endeavor with others to address the situation caused by the war, and further appeal to international humanitarian organizations to help the victims who are facing death by bullets, hunger and diseases, and transform Al Fashir city into a demilitarized zone and a center for administering humanitarian affairs and relief to all regions of Darfur, Kordofan, the White Nile and Al Jazeera states, due to the geographical proximity of Al Fashir city and the existence of the paved roads, we will also endeavor to deliver relief and humanitarian aid to all cities in other regions of Sudan.
We hope that, all parties to the conflict will unconditionally respond to this national and humanitarian initiative, with open hearts and minds, and prioritize the national interest over all the personal and organizational interests.
Furthermore; we appeal to them as well to sternly adhere to international humanitarian law and the ethics of war and that, the Sudanese civilian and his safety wherever he/she is, to be one of their priorities.
Finally; we appeal to the United Nations, the European Union, The United States of America, the Great Britain, the African Union, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) , The Arab League, and the neighboring countries of the region and all the national parties; to support this humanitarian initiative, in order to address the dire humanitarian situation in the city of Al Fashir and its surroundings.
