Cairo
Dr. Badr Abdel Ati, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, said Egypt is working to implement the Quad declaration issued on 12 September, which he described as setting out a clear roadmap beginning with a humanitarian truce that would lead to an immediate ceasefire and pave the way for an inclusive political process in Sudan.
Speaking in an interview with Salsabil Selim of Al-Qahera News channel, the minister reiterated Egypt’s core positions: there is no military solution to the crisis; Egypt insists on preserving Sudan’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity; and that partition of Sudan is a red line Egypt will not accept under any circumstances.
Badr Abdel Ati added that implementing the Quad declaration aims to create conditions for a Sudanese-led political process that includes all parties and protects the country’s resources and people from destruction. He stressed that Cairo will continue diplomatic engagement with regional and international partners to advance de-escalation and mitigate the humanitarian and military impact on civilians.
The minister did not provide detailed timetables or specific mechanisms for implementation, noting that progress depends on the commitment of the parties involved and effective regional and international coordination.
