Sudan Liberation Movement Rejects Kigali Talks with Al-Bashir Allies

Kigali:Alsudanianews

The Sudan Liberation Movement/ Army Chaired by Abdul Wahid Al Nour (SLM/A-AW) wishes to clarify to the Sudanese public and the international community its official position regarding the consultative workshop on ending the war and advancing the political process in Sudan, organized by the Bergof Foundation in Kigali, Rwanda, From 19 to 21 June 2029.

From the outset of the preliminary consultations and throughout the preparations for the participation in the workshop, the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army repeatedly requested that the organizing entity and its partner institution provide a list of participants, in the interest of ensuring transparency and clarity regarding the parties invited to attend. Regrettably, these requests were not Fulfilled.

Upon the arrival of the Movement’s delegation at the workshop venue. It became evident that the participants to the workshop included individuals and parties associated with the ongoing war, as well as well-known figures affiliated with the National Congress Party (NCP), its political facades, and some individuals who had been part of the former regime of Al –Bashir, which was overthrown by the Sudanese people through their historic December Revolution.

Conversely, several anti-war political forces, widely recognized for their national standing and long- standing opposition to authoritarianism, violence and the continuation of the conflict, had been excluded. This raised legitimate concerns regarding the nature of the workshop and its underlying objectives.

Guided by our unwavering principles and revolutionary values which deeply rooted in the struggles of our people and the glorious cumulative December Revolution, the movement firmly refused to sit on or participate in any platform that confers political or moral legitimacy upon forces that have contributed to the destruction of the country, fueled the war, and obstructed the democratic civilian transition to which the Sudanese people aspire.

Accordingly, the Movement’s position on this matter is categorically clear and admits no ambiguity:  We will not sit with the National Congress Party (NCP) or any of its political and organizational affiliates, nor will we participate in any political process that disregards the Sudanese people’s demands for freedom, peace, justice and democracy, or seek to reproduce the former regime in new forms and under different guises.

The Sudan Liberation Movement reaffirm that the prospects for achieving comprehensive, just, and suitable peace, as well as building a state founded on equal citizenship, cannot be realized through the recycling of the same forces that have brought Sudan to its current catastrophic reality. Rather, these objectives can only be achieved through a genuine and inclusive political process based on Sudanese- Sudanese dialogue, grounded in the will and sacrifices of the Sudanese people, and fully committed to placing the interests of civilians above narrow personal or partisan interests.

Glory and eternal remembrance to the noble martyrs

Quick and swift recovery to the wounded and injured

Victory to the free will of the Sudanese people
