Unverified reports from Sudanese sources have alleged the presence of fighters linked to Somalia’s Al-Shabaab group alongside elements of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in the Kordofan region.
According to circulating footage on social media, an armed individual is heard declaring: “We do not fear war… we are men and we do not fear fighting. We are the light and we are the fire,” sparking widespread debate about the identities of those involved in the conflict.
Al-Shabaab is a Somalia-based militant group with reported ties to Al-Qaeda and is designated as a terrorist organization by several countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates. However, the circumstances surrounding the alleged presence of its members in Sudan remain unclear, and the claims have not been independently verified
