Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the US President on Arab and African Affairs, said the G7 position on Sudan is clear and based on the need for an immediate cessation of all actions threatening civilians.Boulos stressed that “the warring parties must immediately cease actions that threaten civilians.”Regarding El-Obeid specifically, Boulos urged the RSF and allied armed groups to “immediately cease any action likely to lead to further atrocities or endanger civilians, including drone strikes and impediments to humanitarian access.”He also called on the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) to “stop rejecting de-escalation measures.”Boulos noted that G7 members are united in their support for ensuring the UN arms embargo applies to the entire Sudanese territory.He demanded that external actors, in line with the Berlin principles, “cease military support to the RSF and SAF.”He concluded by calling on the belligerents to “agree to a humanitarian truce and engage in direct negotiations on a path towards peace in a peaceful, unified Sudan.”
