Darfur Victims Support Organization Condemns Drone Strike That Killed Mother and Two Children in Blue Nile

The Darfur Victims Support Organization has condemned an air attack carried out by a Sudanese army drone in the Southern Badia region of Blue Nile State, which it said killed three civilians and wounded around 10 others in a gathering of displaced people.In a statement issued Thursday, the organization said eyewitnesses reported that an army drone targeted a gathering of displaced persons in the Goz El-Deheish area, Al-Tadamon Locality, in the Southern Badia of Blue Nile State at approximately 5:00 AM Sudan time on July 23, 2026.According to the statement, the strike resulted in the deaths of two children and their mother. Around 10 other civilians sustained various injuries. The victims were reportedly among displaced families who had sought shelter in the area after fleeing conflict in other parts of the region.The organization described the attack as “a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law” and called for an immediate and independent investigation into the incident. It stressed that targeting civilian gatherings, including displaced persons, constitutes a war crime.”Darfur Victims Support Organization strongly condemns this horrific bombing of defenseless displaced civilians,” the statement read. “We hold the Sudanese Armed Forces fully responsible for this crime and demand accountability for those who ordered and carried out the strike.”The group also urged humanitarian organizations and the international community to provide urgent medical and relief assistance to the injured and to the families of the victims in Goz El-Deheish.Blue Nile State has seen repeated displacement in recent months due to ongoing fighting, with thousands of civilians sheltering in rural areas with limited access to health services and protection.The Sudanese Armed Forces have not yet issued a comment on the incident.
