The Sudanese National Observatory for Human Rights reported that drones operated by the Sudanese Armed Forces targeted civilian gatherings in the city of Nyala, the capital of South Darfur State, on Sunday, 10 May.
The Observatory stated that preliminary information indicates the strike occurred in populated civilian areas, causing fear and panic among residents, while field teams continue efforts to reach witnesses and gather further details regarding casualties and damages.
The statement warned that repeated drone attacks on civilian areas are raising serious concerns about the safety of residents, particularly amid the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Nyala and other parts of Darfur.
The Observatory called for independent and transparent investigations into the incident and urged accountability for any violations affecting civilians or civilian infrastructure.
