Sudan Liberation Movement Reaffirms Unwavering Support for Joint International Statement on Sudan’s Political Process

The Sudan Liberation Movement/Army (SLM/A) strongly welcomes the Joint International Statement on the Political Process in Sudan issued by the governments of the United States, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Norway, and the United Kingdom, alongside the African Union, the European Union, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), the League of Arab States, and the United Nations.

The Movement conveys its sincere appreciation to international and regional partners for their steadfast support of efforts to bring an end to the ongoing war and facilitate a credible, and sustainable political process, while underscoring the critical importance of the nationally owned initiatives which firmly grounded in an inclusive Sudanese – Sudanese dialogue that addresses the root causes of the historical crisis and lays the foundation for a just, durable and lasting peace.

Since the outbreak of the war, the movement has consistently engaged with civilian anti – war forces in pursuit of an immediate halt and end to the war. These efforts have been advanced through the adoption of Declaration of Principles for Building a New Nation, the memorandum calling for the designation of the National Congress Party and its affiliated entities as a terrorist organization, and the subsequent Roadmap signed in Nairobi on 23th of May 2026 as a new pathway which sustains fundamental solutions and restores the spirit of the December People’s glorious Revolution. Together, these initiatives are intended to pave the way for a comprehensive Sudanese- Sudanese dialogue capable of addressing the longstanding historical and structural imbalances and open the path toward a new national renaissance.

The Movement reiterates its unwavering support for comprehensive solutions through the Preparatory Committee Mechanism established under the agreement signed with the civilian anti-war forces in Addis Ababa concerning the political process and its three tracks, held from 3 to 4 June 2026.

Furthermore, the Movement emphasizes that ending the war requires credible and effective political mechanisms that ensure the participation of the political and civilian forces signatory to the Nairobi Declaration, as well as civil society bodies, independent national figures, women and youth groups, traditional community leaders and all stakeholders committed to meaningful change and the national interest.

Such Participation shall be guided by the agreed standards and principles established with the anti-  war forces and shall exclude the extremist Islamist establishment, which designated as a terrorist organization, along with its affiliated facades, in addition to individuals whose hands are stained with the blood of innocent civilians, and those who willingly reject this political process.

The Sudan Liberation Movement/Army believes that a comprehensive and sustainable resolution to the Sudanese crisis must be deeply grounded in a national vision based on justice, equality, equal citizenship, the rule of law, and full respect for human rights, and the guarantee of justice and accountability for all those responsible for violations and crimes committed crimes against the Sudanese people.

The Sudan Liberation Movement/Army reaffirms its resolute dedication to ending wars and achieving a comprehensive peace that reflects the aspirations of the Sudanese people for security, stability, and justice.

Consequently; calls upon all national forces committed to democratic transformation to unite their efforts, assume their historic responsibility during this critical period, and engage in a serious political process aimed at addressing the crisis and its root causes.

The Movement also renews its readiness to constructively cooperate with national, regional, and international partners in support of all initiatives that contribute to ending the suffering of the civilian populations who continue to bear the burden of this conflict. It further reiterates that, it will not participate in any undertaking that fails to fulfill the aspirations of the Sudanese people and will forever remain committed to working toward the establishment of a just state founded on the rule of law, equal citizenship, and respect for human rights.
