Sudanese Human Rights Observatory Reports Drone Strike on Civilian Route in West Kordofan

Khartoum Alsudanianews

The Sudanese National Observatory for Human Rights has reported that drones allegedly operated by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) targeted the road linking the towns of Al Fula and Abu Zabad in West Kordofan State on Saturday, May 30, causing civilian casualties and significant damage to public infrastructure.

According to the Observatory, the attack struck a vital transportation corridor frequently used by civilians, traders, and travelers moving between communities in the region. Preliminary reports indicate that several civilians were killed or injured, although the exact number of casualties has not yet been confirmed.

The organization stated that its field monitoring teams are actively working to reach eyewitnesses and collect detailed information regarding the circumstances of the strike, the extent of the losses, and the identities of those affected.

Human rights advocates have expressed concern over the increasing use of aerial attacks in populated areas, warning that continued military operations targeting civilian infrastructure could further exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in Sudan.

The Observatory called for an independent investigation into the incident and urged all parties to the conflict to respect international humanitarian law and ensure the protection of civilians.
