Local community groups and coordination committees have accused authorities in Port Sudan, under the leadership of General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, of carrying out the forced displacement of members of the Al-Rafa’a tribe from the Ghabat Ko area in Al-Qadarif State.
According to local sources, security forces allegedly removed families from the area under the justification that the community constituted a “social base” for the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Community leaders have strongly rejected those claims, describing them as a pretext for arbitrary measures targeting civilians on regional and tribal grounds.
Civil society organizations and local activists warned that such actions risk deepening social divisions and undermining community cohesion in eastern Sudan. They argued that collective punishment and displacement based on perceived political affiliations threaten long-term stability and peaceful coexistence among local communities.
The accusations come amid growing concerns over population displacement and alleged human rights violations in several regions affected by Sudan’s ongoing conflict.
Observers have called for transparent investigations into the allegations and urged authorities to uphold the rights of citizens regardless of their ethnic, tribal, or political affiliations.
