An IDP committed Suicide

In Sunday 4th August 2024, an Internal Displaced Person (IDP) called Mohamed Ammar Wad Al Naw killed himself because he was not able to feed his family. his children stayed for three days without food. Mohamed , moved from Khartoum North ( Al Samrab Neighbourhood) to Abu Gibiha South Kordofan state escaping from the ongoing war he settled in Abu Zar AL Gfari School which is used to accommodate IDPs , with his wife , mother and five children , one of his wife relatives told us that he earlier told his wife that he is unable to feed them and better for him to die , then he went to a nearby stream called Khor El Dikair , poured petrol on his body and ignited it , he died immediately,

Over twenty thousand IDP moved to Abu Gibiha towm from Khartoum, El Obied (North Kordofan) Habyla, Dalami, Khor EL Dilib and Sidra, all that due to the fighting in those areas, around 5573 IDPs staying in the schools 3332 are children and there are around 6345 IDPs staying in some neighbourhoods with people they know. No one provides then with any assistance they mainly relying on some local volunteers with very limited resources.

Due to road closure, the prices of essential goods have rocketed and the majority of people have no income and no support provided from the local government or humanitarian organisations. The case of Mohamed is just one example.

We Urge

Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to immediately reach cessation of hostilities agreement and open the roads for humanitarian convoys to reach millions of people in desperate need of humanitarian assistance.

The international community to commit more resources in support of the humanitarian operation in Sudan.
