The field team of Dar Al Ber Charity Association conducted an urgent field visit to Qatran Camp for Sudanese refugees in eastern Chad, following heavy rainfall that triggered widespread floods and torrents, causing significant damage to the camp’s infrastructure.The team reported that the intense rains over the past few days led to the collapse and destruction of several refugee shelters built from local materials. The floods also resulted in major losses of personal belongings and forced a number of families out of their homes, leaving them displaced within the camp.According to the Dar Al Ber team, the visit is part of the association’s rapid response efforts to natural disasters and its commitment to assessing the conditions of Sudanese refugees who are already enduring harsh displacement circumstances. The team carried out a field assessment of the damage, documented the affected shelters, and registered families who lost their homes and property entirely.The association confirmed that the floods have worsened the suffering of refugees in the camp, particularly children, the elderly, and women, and increased the risk of disease outbreaks due to stagnant water and the spoilage of food supplies.Dar Al Ber Charity Association called on humanitarian organizations and donor bodies to intervene urgently by providing emergency relief aid, including shelter, non-food items, food, and health supplies to mitigate the impact of the disaster.The association reaffirmed its commitment to standing with Sudanese refugees in camps across eastern Chad, and to mobilizing support to meet basic needs and rebuild destroyed homes to restore normal life as quickly as possible.
