EL FASHER – Al-Sudaniya News
Thousands of displaced people sheltering at the Famir camp in Sudan are facing rapidly deteriorating humanitarian conditions, with residents reporting a complete absence of essential services and no presence of government or aid agencies.A field coordinator working in the area told Al-Sudaniya News that the camp has been left entirely without support, leaving families vulnerable to hunger, disease, and exposure. “The camp has no government support and no humanitarian presence,” the coordinator said. “People here have no access to basic assistance — no food, no clean water, no medical care, and no shelter materials. The situation gets worse every day.”Famir camp, located in a conflict-affected region, has become a refuge for thousands who fled fighting in surrounding areas. However, without any operational aid organizations or state intervention, displaced families are being forced to rely on limited community resources and dwindling personal supplies.Residents say children and the elderly are the most affected. Cases of malnutrition and waterborne illnesses are reportedly rising, while makeshift shelters offer little protection from harsh weather. The lack of medical facilities means even minor injuries and illnesses often go untreated.Humanitarian workers warn that the absence of a coordinated response is turning Famir into a forgotten crisis zone. They are calling for urgent intervention from both national authorities and international organizations to establish a presence in the camp and deliver life-saving aid.The coordinator added that without immediate support, conditions in Famir are likely to collapse further, increasing the risk of disease outbreaks and further displacement.“We are appealing to the government, to the UN, and to all humanitarian partners,” he said. “People in Famir cannot survive another month like this. They need food, water, medicine, and protection now.”The crisis at Famir reflects a broader pattern across Sudan, where access constraints and funding gaps have left many displacement sites cut off from aid. Aid groups have repeatedly warned that without safe access and increased funding, the humanitarian situation for millions of displaced Sudanese will continue to deteriorate. As of now, there has been no official response from the government regarding the situation in Famir camp.
